Born from personal experience, driven by compassion, and committed to ensuring no mother suffers in silence.
Founded in 2017 by Pasqueline Njau after her personal battle with postpartum depression, Calmind Foundation exists to ensure that no mother suffers in silence. We are a Kenya-based nonprofit working to support mothers and families during and after childbirth.
Our founder's journey through postpartum depression revealed the critical gaps in maternal mental health support in Kenya. This personal experience became the foundation for our mission to transform how maternal mental health is understood, discussed, and treated in our communities.

The personal journey that sparked a movement
In 2017, Pasqueline Njau faced her own battle with postpartum depression. Like many mothers in Kenya, she found herself struggling in silence, with limited resources and support systems available.
Through her recovery journey, Pasqueline discovered the profound gaps in maternal mental health care across Kenya. She realized that countless mothers were facing similar challenges without access to proper support, understanding, or treatment.
This realization became the catalyst for Calmind Foundation. What started as one woman's determination to heal became a movement to transform maternal mental health care for all mothers in Kenya. Today, Pasqueline's vision continues to drive our work as we support mothers, train healthcare workers, and advocate for systemic change.
We believe in a comprehensive approach that addresses maternal mental health from multiple angles
Raising awareness about maternal mental health issues and removing stigma
Providing direct support and connecting mothers to professional care
Building capacity among healthcare workers and community leaders
Working with policymakers to create systemic change
Help us create a world where every mother receives the mental health support she deserves.
